Gentleman Jack

Not all dates are what you might expect. Here's a tale of one night I spent with a true gentleman.....

Nothing beats the excitement of meeting a new client for the first time. I'm sometimes asked if I'm scared, but in all honesty, I'm not. Maybe its because of the feeling I get from our exchange of brief messages leading up to the date and of course my client screening process also puts my mind at ease.

The day has finally arrived. I'm a planner and I overthink EVERYTHING (the traits of being a Pisces). I'm really looking forward to meeting Jack for the first time. Our messages have seemed to flow and his voice on the phone can best be described as "dreamy". I'm genuinely excited, and the anticipation is almost overwhelming.

It's 3:00PM and I am pondering what to wear....

Pants, pencil skirt, jeans or even better... I'll head down to Robson Street and buy a new outfit. New outfits always seem to provide an increased sense of confidence when I embark on a date.

Some of Vancouver's most unique boutiques do not disappoint, and I am excited to find the perfect outfit! Of course I buy the matching heels to complete the ensemble.

Jack is expected at 6:00 PM sharp to pick me up, so I don't want to be running late. Just prior to 6 I arrive downstairs at the hotel, I watch a lot of traffic in and out, with some cars parking.

I notice this beautiful car pulling up slowly, my heart begins to race as I wonder if this might be him. The car comes to a stop in front of the door and the driver steps out of the car, smiles and says "you must be the lovely Riley"

We share a brief hug and then he opens the passenger door for me...

Gentlemanly acts NEVER go unoticed!

In the car we chat about anything and everything, its almost feels like we've known each other for years. Conversation flows smoothly and effortlessly. accentuated by his occasional touch on my lap.

We arrive in downtown Vancouver and pull up to one of the finest upscale restaurants in the city. Jack tosses his keys to the valet and says "I'll be here for a few hours". ( I assume he's a regular here and knows this guy quite well)

We are seated at our table and I enjoy gazing across the table this tall, dark, handsome man with just the right amount of facial hair. He's groomed perfectly, and his brown eyes seem to pierce right to my soul. I always feel like I can focus but tonight, I'm struggling.

The question that consumes my thoughts at the moment is: "Is this merely a dinner date or are we heading back to my place afterwards"?

As he talks I just smile like I know exactly what he's talking about.

After dinner we roam the streets of downtown Vancouver, exploring different places of interest. I admit that I enjoy the glances from other shoppers as we stroll arm in arm.

Moments like this remind me of how lucky I am to meet some amazingly lovely and charming gentlemen through my chosen profession.
